My therapeutic approach
I use an integrative approach to providing therapy, believing that it is important to recognize the diverse needs, talents, and interests of my clients. Below are some of my commonly used therapeutic approaches and a short description to provide a basic understanding of the approach. Sometimes clients are clearest about what they don’t want based on previous experience, and I welcome you to share that with me in our consultation together.
Psychodynamic
Psychodynamic theory and therapy focus on the exploration of old relationships and patterns to better understand and develop insight into current relationship patterns and experiences. This talk therapy may include free association, dream work, genogram creation, and/or attachment theory.

Jungian
A form of psychodynamic therapy, Jungian techniques also include dream work, and may also include word association, artwork, and visualization. The goal of Jungian therapy is to create alignment between the conscious and unconscious aspects of your personality.
Feminist
Feminist therapy is a therapeutic approach rooted in feminist theory, emphasizing the cultural, social, and political contexts that contribute to a person's mental health and overall well-being. It seeks to empower individuals, particularly those marginalized by gender, race, class, sexuality, or other intersecting identities, by addressing systemic inequalities and personal experiences of oppression. This approach promotes advocacy and empowerment.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) & Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT)
CBT operates from the premise that thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected. By challenging distorted thoughts and adopting healthier behaviors, the emotional well-being of an individual improves. This form of therapy focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors. ACT emphasizes accepting difficult emotions and thoughts rather than fighting or avoiding them, while committing to actions aligned with one’s personal values. This approach fosters a greater awareness of the myriads of emotions present for individuals, and includes mindfulness, acceptance strategies, and values-based goal setting.
Goal-oriented
Goal-oriented therapy focuses on the client developing a vision for their goal in the future, as well as identifying the parts or steps to achieving that goal. Techniques for this therapeutic approach include vision boards, values and ideals work, and exploration of motivations.
